I Like Wine
I don't like the day after, but I love my red wine...a lovely little social happening last night included some new friends and some yummy Malbec. My boyfriend, though likes only red wine, will drink only a Shiraz, Syrah or Shiraz blend- and he usually enjoys the Aussies the most....My number one, two and three faves? (in no particular order)
Happy Drinking...
Never Tried the Cab Sav, but the Malbec....ooooh the Malbec! |
Gold Reserve is good too, but I actually prefer the silver label! |

Once I Have a Kitchen...
When I get out of this cabin I am living in, and I have an actual kitchen to call my own, I cannot WAIT to get down to Medicine Hat. Medalta Clay District in Medicine Hat has so much history and so much to see that to have a piece of my very own Alberta-made pottery?! Oh my...
Look up some of the history for yourself! www.medalta.org

I'm no Professional....
But I quite enjoy interior design....me and my boyfriend are currently building a house (so Sorento Homes builds and I pick pretty light fixtures), and it's so much fun! I wish I had room for a barn door, like this one designed by the Brooklyn Home Company, photo via Design Sponge....
But I don't....but I won't be sad! I will be happy because I do have THIS.....
And it's delicious....I made up the recipe:
Mix a little sugar in 1 cup of warm water
Sprinkle 1.5 tsp active dry yeast and wait a bit until it gets all foamy
Pour into a large bowl and add 1 1/2 Cups of all purpose flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/2-1 tbsp of canola oil (my pa farms, it's ALWAYS canola oil...maybe one day I will post nutritional value).
Knead for a few minutes until the dough is sort of stiff...smooth and stretchy...add flour if needed
Cover and let sit for about 20 minutes
Lightly grease a 12 inch pizza pan (2 pans that is)
Divide the dough and stretch over pan, pulling and patting with your hands
Sauce
I mix crushed canned tomatoes, and regular tomato sauce as well as a little bit of fresh tomatoes (too much is no good). Pepper, lime juice, fresh oregano and garlic all goes in the sauce.
Toppings
Fresh basil leaves, chunks of mozza, canned artichokes & fresh sliced mushrooms
This all goes onto the 'zza...bake at 425 for 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and browning
Yum Yum

The Deal
My New Years resolution for 2011, was to be happy. Not that I am an unhappy person, but I am prone to wallowing in self pity and focusing on the wrongs when in all reality, my life is good. My previous blog was mostly rantings and ravings about crap that goes on in the world...meant to be a source of ventilation, I found that addressing certain issues only served as another source of stress and irritation in my life. Hence, "Joa Likes" is to formally create, save and share that of which I like- electronic pockets of happiness and a reminder to myself that life is good...Happy Day!
